…is feeling disappointed

I decided to ask, “Alexa, play the Focus on the Family podcast” while in the kitchen today as I wanted to take a break from listening to the news, as all of them were talking about Trump being in the hospital due to COVID. Interestingly and disappointedly, the episode that played featured an interview with Vice President Mike Pence. As I listened, I realized that this rhetoric is another reason why people will vote Trump…😕

“So, the choice could not be more clear in this election when it comes to the sanctity of human life. And with four more years of President Donald Trump in the White House, I promise you we will continue to stand without apology for the sanctity of life and the right to life in America.” – Vice President Mike Pence

That statement is specifically about abortion, but what about refugees? There were also short segments on COVID and #BLM too: “And when I look at it, the response of the government broadly, I feel like you have all done such a good job.” – Jim Daly” What? Maybe I’m coming from an outside Canadian perspective, but “good job” isn’t exactly how I’d describe what is happening in US government right now.

The fact that this is being backed by a large, Christian organization, is also why (many) conservative Christians will vote Trump. I’m pro-life and I have great things to say about their family resources, especially Adventures in Odyssey; I’ve also worked for Focus on the Family Canada. Maybe because I don’t like politics, or maybe it’s because my perspective is from the outside looking in, but I wouldn’t know how to reconcile this tension and conflict if I was a voting American.
